New Man
04:11
|
|||
They never check their mail
It's blowing down the street
I wonder if they’re home
As this day my route repeats
The box is overflowing as
I speed up my retreat
They watch me from the windows
A strange specific heat
I agonize over what's perceived as a
lack of responsibility
I struggle to see why they still maintain their crusade
I am a new man
I command respect
I see that you are purged of
Any and all defect
I am a new man
I have earned respect
My rules have all been broken
My boxes left unchecked
Orderly rows of empty boxes
Behind lock and key
It kills us all to see this state
Hear them laughing from the trees
Abused the system put in place
And this I must correct
After hours, I set my face
to have the right effect

Elevator
05:17
|
|||
Elevator slow down
We've already
Passed the ground floor
Pull over, chauffeur
Hold it steady
Drive safe tonight
Set the table, light a candle, take it in,
we've already got all that we need
Set the table, light a candle, take it in,
watch the headlights throw shadows through the trees

Moth in a Jar
03:04
|
|||
half open eyes
watch it undress
half cocoon
half squirming mess
hide away
keep out of sight
I know that you’ve got plans tonight
moth in a jar
to have come so far
nowhere to go
but back inside me
kept alive
in a paper sack it’s
not worth the struggle now to turn back
folded wings
for everyone
blink at the world in the morning sun

Darwin Award
04:42

Hold my beer
Hypocrite
Your gene pool
I drowned in it
Gator pit
Original sin
I read the sign
It pulled me in
I played a stupid game and won
Now where’s my prize
Loosen up and have some fun
It’s televised
Vending machine, withholding
Shake it out, it goes right over
Instant regret, nominee
Must be dead or rendered sterile
It can’t feel good inside
A death to so deride
Comes as no surprise, I guess
To mock the unwise
Check LiveLeak
If it’s still up
Your doublespeak
Can’t interrupt
Keep your eyes peeled
you might see
your own debris
your own marquee

Skyglow
04:40
|
|||
Artificial lighted towns give no relief
phases brighter than the moon’s
pull the mask over my eyes I’m trying to sleep
blow the candles out and read the room
we’ll show off our best and brightest
And they’ll all be delighted
by the burnt out lights
interred under the skyglow
Neon signs and flood lights grow to fill the scene
And strangers cover up the drain
Quiet indication something more is wrong
Empty jars will still remain

Pressure Sale
03:32
|
|||
Lines of people, get carried away
The pressure's high, on the tenth or twelfth day
Let it go sideways, make it up some way
Lines of people set up for today
The head moves, make the body align with
Chess moves that they tell me I'm fine with
Pressure sale, part of the design
Working stale dough that I'll soon be buying
Camera eyes can forget what they've seen
So put em in buckets, constrain and demean
Teach em to speak but don't let them think they're spoken to
Check out their books but don't let them know they're overdue
I'm gonna go out Sunday
I'm gonna walk down the street
I'm gonna pass by these rusting computers
Find me some real food to eat
Forever and always
Forever and always
